Readiness

We assess where your organization stands today — and close the gaps that keep funding-eligible missions from ever getting funded.

Before you apply

Most organizations aren't turned down. They're screened out.

Federal and state funders check eligibility before anyone reads a word about your mission. An expired SAM.gov registration, a missing UEI, no documented financial controls — any one of them ends the application at the door, and you rarely find out which one did it. Readiness is the unglamorous work that keeps a strong mission from being disqualified on a technicality.

How it works

The readiness process

A structured assessment before you spend an hour on an application.

  1. 01

    Capacity assessment

We review your governance, financial controls, staffing, and existing documentation against what federal and state funders actually require.

  2. 02

    Gap closure

We help you build what's missing — SAM.gov and UEI registration, indirect cost rate documentation, board policies — before it costs you an eligible grant.

  3. 03

    Readiness roadmap

You leave with a clear, sequenced plan for which opportunities to pursue first and what still needs to be in place.

What it makes possible

Readiness is what the next three stages stand on.

Every organization we've carried through research, writing, and administration started here. The assessment isn't a hurdle in front of the real work — it's what makes the real work fundable. Skipping it usually costs a full cycle to learn the same lessons at the price of an application.

What's included

A readiness engagement typically includes:

  • Full capacity and compliance assessment
  • Federal registration setup (SAM.gov, UEI, Grants.gov)
  • Prioritized roadmap for your first 12 months of funding

The Full Lifecycle

Readiness is stage one of five.

Once your organization can pass the screen, the next questions are which funders to pursue, how the case gets written, and what happens after the check clears. See where readiness fits against research, writing, administration, and coaching.
